Functional Threshold Power (FTP) is the maximum effort that a person can maintain for 60 minutes. It is an important way to see improvements in your fitness and therefore is also a critical part of VirtuGO.
Even if you do not care about what your FTP is, if you do not set your FTP inside VirtuGO you are missing out on personalised training intensities and accurate ride reporting.
There are 3 ways to set your FTP:
1. Complete an FTP Test
Under the Training tab select Training session library
Under Select training category select Power Profile Test
Under Select Training Session choose a test based on your level and select Start riding.
Once you have completed a test your FTP will be automatically calculated and added as a Dynamic FTP.
Dynamic FTP is a function under the Weight & FTP menu. Dynamic FTP can only be populated by doing an FTP test. Then that number is used to set your training intensity. This number changes each time you do a test and is recorded and your progress is mapped under statistics on the FTP History chart.
2. Set it Manually
Select the Weight & FTP menu in the Training tab
FTP is set to 150w as a default. You can add any number you want here. As a warning, though, if an unrealistically low number is added it will impact your ride reports and training intensity. Please use the FTP Estimator if you are unsure and do not want to complete an FTP test.
3. FTP Estimator
Under the Weight & FTP menu, you will find a link to the FTP Estimator. This will bring up the eFTP Calculator - a two-question survey to determine your eFTP.
Once you have selected your answers an FTP will populate in the FTP number box. Select the Confirm changes to use this FTP estimate.
